Can I always rely on RV antifreeze to keep my tanks from freezing up?

No!

Why not? Because RV antifreeze must be used undiluted and pure, not mixed with water of any kind. If you mix it with your gray or black water, it loses its antifreeze effect. Make sure your RV antifreeze is not diluted.
